Tarot Journalling

7 Tarot Journal Prompts to Try TODAY!

Writing is a form of magic, which is why we call it spelling! And a journal can act as a portal to your soul, which is why I’ve been kind of obsessed with Tarot journalling ever since I got my first Tarot deck.

Below, I share my 7 favourite Tarot journal prompts – the ones I’ve come back to again and again over the years. But before you dive in, create a delicious journalling space for yourself – light a candle, make a hot drink and put on some mystical music and get comfy. All you really need is a notebook, pen and Tarot deck but setting the scene can really spice up your journalling experience!

Ready? Let’s do it….

Journal Prompt #1: What are you finally ready to release or transform?

Write about it in your journal and explore why now is the right time to do this and what your life will look like once you’ve let go of this thing. THEN, draw a Tarot card. This card will give insight into how you can begin to release what you want to.

Journal Prompt #2: What are some new ideas, interests or desires you’ve had?

These things may be guiding you on the next steps to take in your life. Write each of them down and then draw a Tarot card for each thing – this is your deck’s way of telling you what it thinks of each thing and what role it might play in your life right now.

Journal Prompt #3: What area of your life needs some special care and healing?

Draw a card and journal about it:
♥ What area do you think it represents?
♥ What is the first thing you notice on the card?
♥ How might that relate to this particular area?

Journal Prompt #4: What is your life’s purpose at this time?

Draw 3 cards. This will provide insight into where you should be putting most of your focus right now.
Spend some time writing about each card:
♥ How does it relate to your life at this time?
♥ Are any specific actions or goals suggested by the card?

Journal Prompt #5: Ask a question that’s been on your mind lately…

Now BEFORE you draw any tarot cards, allow your Soul / Higher Self to answer you – write freely for 5 min and then draw a card. This card will add insight and direction to what you have already written, like your Tarot deck is chiming in to add onto what you’ve already come up with on your own.

Journal Prompt #6: What is your LEAST favourite Tarot card?

This card may represent aspects of yourself that you dislike, aspects of life that you struggle to understand or an experience you haven’t fully integrated yet.

♥ What to do dislike about this card?
♥ How is it showing up in your life at this time?
♥ How has it shown up in the past?

Journal Prompt #7: What is your absolute FAVOURITE Tarot card? The one you always get super excited to see in a reading?

This card represents your values, ideals and the things your drawn to.
♥ What do you love about this card?
♥ What parts of yourself does it represent?
♥ How is it showing up in your life right now?

What Tarot Says About YOUR Age! 2.0

Did you know that your age unlocks a bunch of juicy Tarot secrets about the lessons, themes and gifts of your current year?

Join me as I take you on a wild, Tarot journalling journey to discover what you’re really meant to be focusing on in your current age-year!!! Grab a pen and notebook OR grab your FREE copy of my Tarot journalling worksheets and let’s get started….

***I’ve created a fun worksheet just for this video! Download it right HERE***

STEP ONE:

How old are you? I’m 43.

Okay, now add up the numbers in your age until you get ONE, single digit number. For me, that’s number 7 (4 + 3 = 7).

STEP TWO:

Now, find the Major Arcana card in your Tarot deck that corresponds to that number. Since I got #7, I’m going to pull out The Chariot.

Your Major Arcana card depicts the main theme or general vibe of your current year. Since I got The Chariot, it shows that my 43rd year has been all about progress, momentum and moving forward.

Take a look at your Major Arcana card – what are the keywords you associate with it? What’s it all about? How has it shown up so far in your current age-year?

Personally, I’ve experienced The Chariot as a series of small successes and forward momentum in many areas of my life, particularly on issues that I’ve been stuck in for a while, like lower back issues, gut problems and blocked creativity (all sacral chakra stuff….hmmmm).

STEP THREE:

Okay, now here’s where things get really interesting… find the four Minor Arcana cards that correspond to your number. For me, that’s all the 7’s – Seven of Pentacles, Swords, Cups and Wands.

These Minor Arcana cards depict the areas of your life that you’ll be experiencing the most growth in during your current age. “Growth” can be experienced as lessons, breakthroughs, success, challenges or simply just “doing the work” in a particular area.

I like to think of the Minors as lessons I’m trying to master.

Have a look at your 4 Minor Arcana cards – what lesson does each card present? what areas of your life do they show up in? What situations, challenges or opportunities do you feel they stand for? How are you “working through” each card’s lessons at your current age?

Here’s what I wrote for all my cards:
7 of Pentacles – patience and nurturing something – I’ve had to be patient while treating both a long standing gut issue and lower back issue
7 of Swords – authenticity and honesty – I’ve gotten better at not hiding my true self in social interactions with others
7 of Cups – choosing – I’m still working on this one! I can get very overwhelmed by all my creative ideas for new projects and courses
7 of Wands – assertiveness – I’ve had numerous opportunities to practice being assertive in business, my relationship, and in a very specific interaction with my bank!

EXTRA STUFF:

*Fun Tip: you can always look at your cards for your last year (prior age) or next year (I’ll be 44 soon, which will be an 8 year for me!) – this will give you an even more expanded perspective on how these cards operate in your life.

**If your age first adds up to 10 (before you further condense it to just ONE number), you’re extra lucky!!! This means you actually have two sets of cards!!! You’re going to want to look at all the 10’s (Wheel of Fortune, and all the minor 10’s) AND the 1’s (The Magician and all the Aces)….this shows that your year will be a transition year where you’ll be wrapping many things up and starting new projects and new directions.

Journalling Questions:

Ask these questions for each card…

♥ What area(s) of your life does this card show up in? And how? (Can you connect it to an experience, challenge or opportunity you’ve had recently, in your current age?)

♥ How are you “working through” each card’s lessons at your current age?
