Will Today be Whiny Wednesday? Three of Swords Takes the Stage…

The Three of Swords is one of the most miserable cards in the Tarot, in my opinion. But don’t worry, it doesn’t foretell how things will be today.

Rather, it tells you what to stop doing today!

The Three of Swords indicates you are feeling disappointed by someone or something. Did someone not live up to your expectation? Did something not bring you the fulfillment it was supposed to?

Stop sniveling and get on with it!

Okay, maybe that’s a bit harsh. Sorry. You are feeling a little raw right now because it has become apparently clear that something/someone is not all it was cracked up to be. And that can hurt.

But it won’t last long. The best thing for you to do today is to avoid stewing in your own disappointment. If you catch yourself mentally rambling to yourself about how crummy something is, take a breath and think of kittens.

  1. For once this doesn’t apply to me. 🙂
But, I can think of a whole lot of folks who need to adhere to it.

  2. Hey, Kate–

Okay. I’ll stop whining and get on with it. Goddess knows I have a pile of editing backing up …

But, also, it seems that this card might have a connection to yesterday’s card, don’t you think? The King of Cups who can’t own up to his feelings may be allowing them to fester in his heart like sharp little swords?

What say you, Queen of Smart?

Hi Kate, I like the idea of taking responsibility for one’s own actions and emotions here. Kind of puts it all back into perspective and takes away the nastiness that the 3 of swords makes me feel.
    Thank you.

    1. Thanks! Three of Swords is a pretty miserable card, but it helps when we realize we have the power to turn it around 🙂

  4. I got this card twice yesterday. Yes I was upset with someone for hiding something from me and yesterday I tried a few times to get them to spill the beans but no luck. I decided to leave it alone and let it come out when ready (hopefully today)..

    1. Oh, Erica.

May I just say I was the one in my own recent situation who was unwilling to spill the beans! Yup. I needed to get some distance from the situation–confided in another friend–before I was able to get up the guts to say, “Yes, I did this, and I’m sorry.” But I did, and it made it much, much better.

      I hope you’re non-bean-spiller comes clean–for both your sakes.

      1. I’m glad things worked out for you Jaime. Yes the beams were spilled today as I was hoping but I have to admit I couldn’t help but say “oh I already know so admit it. :-)” It turned out well for me too! Yay!

        1. Yay! Good for you for just asking the person to ‘fess up. In my case, my friend wouldn’t let it go–which was hard for me, but actually ended up helping me to face it and, you know, be a better person!
