Hi Kate,
The first thing I thought of when you turned over the Hermit card was that the woman in the card was the Crone aspect of the Goddess. Might be where the snake comes in.

It looks like a journey to manifested maternal connection-the nesting, the grounding, then the journey to the sacred pyramid with the child, which could represent all one holds a caring connection to as the pyramid itself has what looks like a face on the side showing!
