How to Read Tarot Cards

Intuitive Tarot Reading CRASH COURSE!

✏️ Grab a pen and notebook (if you’re into that 😉 and let me walk you through my Tarot reading process. THIS is how I read a Tarot card with my intuition

And if this lesson knocks your socks off, then you are going to LOVE my upcoming course The Daily Tarot Girl’s Guide to Intuitive Tarot Reading (Doors close on April 14th,get in while you still can!!!)

There are two ways to read a Tarot card – you can read with your HEAD(mind/intellect) or your HEART(intuition).

Reading with the MIND involves analyzing a card and breaking it down into parts, while reading with your INTUITION is all about experiencing the card, merging with it and feeling into it.

Most of us are well versed in reading with our mind, so let’s start there! Look at a card in front of you (either the one I show in this video or one you draw yourself) and notice:

  • What’s the NAME of the card?
  • What KEYWORDS do you associate with it?
  • What SUIT is it from?
  • What NUMBER is on the card?
  • What SYMBOLS are on the card?

Now that you’ve gathered all that info, let’s shift into intuitive reading mode

Step 1 – Relax! Take a breath and chill. This will help you hear your intuitive voice better.

Step 2 – notice what comes up. Any feelings or emotions? Any urges? Just notice.

Step 3 – feel into the card. How does this card feel to you? Sad? Joyful? Cold? Busy? Use your 5 senses of touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing to really feel out this card – what do you notice?

Step 4 – What are you drawn to? Follow it. It might be a symbol, a colour, a person. What do you notice about it? What is it trying to tell you?

Step 5 – let the card SPEAK to you! Ask the card (or a figure or symbol on the card) what it wants to tell you and then sit back and wait.

Personally, I LOVE to read with BOTH my mind and intuition, so this isn’t an either/or thing. You might find that you read mostly with your mind and only 10% intuition and that’s fine! It will vary from reading to reading, too. Sometimes my intuition is on FIRE and so I’ll mostly just read intuitively, while some days it just simply is NOT on fire, LOL! That’s when it’s nice to have some solid Tarot knowledge about meanings and keywords to fall back on.

I hope you find this Intuitive Tarot Reading crash course helpful in your Tarot studies 💕

When Your Tarot (or oracle) Reading Makes NO SENSE – Try THIS…

You’ve been here before. You ask a question, pull a card and….it doesn’t really make sense.

Even though I’ve done thousands of readings, this still happens to me ALL THE TIME!

So I’m going to share my process for what I do when I get a card that makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever.

But first a story….it’s a story about a festival, some very spiritual people and a big red tent. Unfortunately there’s no sex or nudity but there IS a whole bunch of drugs….

So in a nutshell, my process for decoding ANY Tarot or oracle card that doesn’t make sense is this:

First, I explore WHY the card is confusing, nonsensical or just plain annoying. This alone can sometimes lead to some big epiphanies and insights! In the above video, I was irritated by the card’s beauty and magical appearance because it didn’t reflect how I was feeling and it didn’t seem to offer any solutions (at first).

Second, I notice which symbol or aspect of the card I’m most drawn to (in the example I gave in the video, it was the pearl in the oyster shell). I then explore what that symbol means to me and whether it has a message for me about my current question.

Third, I explore some of the other things on the card like it’s number, various words, colours or characters. Sometimes this feels a bit like meandering along a winding path with little side paths that lead nowhere. That’s okay. Some of these side paths may lead somewhere important – you never know until you try.

In my case, I explored the number on my oracle card (39) by adding it together (12) and finding the corresponding Tarot card (The Hanged Man) and then adding that number again (3) to get The Empress. It was through exploring these two Tarot cards that I had some interesting insights.

Tell me what you think! When was the last time you got a card that make absolutely NO SENSE? What card was it?

Happy Tarot Reading!
