Is Ignorance Really Bliss? Oracle Card Reading for Monday…

once was innocent
Wild Wisdom of the Faery Oracle by Lucy Cavendish

Today’s Oracle card is Once Was Innocent and it says “Knowledge means change.”

Its impossible for you to gain the information you seek and have things stay the same after. If you want to expand your perceptions, you must first accept that your life will be forever changed.

In the past, you may have been tempted to just bury your head in the sand or put your fingers in your ears and go la la la la la la. But not anymore. Now you are ready to see the big picture.

As you move forward in your life and open your eyes to new possibilities, let go of those old ideas like “what I don’t know can’t hurt me” or “ignorance is bliss”. You can still be wise, in-the-know and blissful – it just takes a little more creativity!

Was there ever a time in your life that you gained knowledge or experience you wish you hadn’t? Or do you feel a sense of resistance to knowing “the truth” about things? Feel free to share in the comments below!

  1. Kate–

I’m relating this card not to the news of the world, but to the news hidden beneath my own inner avoidance where I have been tripping over some old patterns of behavior that I would TRULY like to continue to ignore. However, as this card suggests, I believe the time for ignorance has passed and now I must acknowledge some of my own behaviors. Ugh.

  2. Some periods, I don’t want to watch the news and read newspapers, because I find it just to overwhelming. Sometimes I just don’t want to know what is happening out there

    1. I am with you on that, Ellen. I don’t read newspapers or watch the news at all – as a result I have no idea what is going on in the world (except for when people tell me things). Some may say this is ignorant, but I hardly ever get sad or depressed, so for me its worth it. But I don’t really see The News and media as an accurate representation of what is really going on anyway, in fact, relying on “the news” to keep you “informed” is probably more ignorant than ignoring it altogether. Just my two cents!

      1. Kate and Ellen–

I don’t watch or listen to the news, either. My best friends know this and call me if there’s something up I really need to know, like, “Hey, hurricane on its way!!”

Otherwise, I’m all about listening to my cats and my cards.

        1. You must have good friends! I feel like sometimes people enjoy describing horrific news stories to me because they know I purposefully avoid the news.

  3. I found out that my boss is a ego maniac and fires people who stand up and fight for their right. I still work there. Maybe its my lesson to deal with it. I wish i never found out.
