How to get everything you’ve ever wanted

Veronica is my nefarious Tarot reading twin. At night she slinks through the streets under the cover of darkness, hunting for young, unsuspecting man-meat. By daylight she naps, writes filth and eats bon bons. But on Fridays, she reads Tarot – for you, right here…

Cosmic Tarot

Have you noticed that the more out of reach something is, the more attractive it becomes?

Married men, luxury yachts and some fucking peace and quiet are all good examples.

But have you also noticed that when you stop wanting something, that’s when you finally get it?

The only jobs I’ve ever gotten were jobs I never really wanted. Come to think of it, I’ve never really wanted a job – ever.

When you don’t need or want something, you keep your power. And that power emanates from you like a sexy glow, attracting moths, lovers, jobs and all sorts of shit.

So stop wanting. Stop being so god damn needy all the time! Stop drooling over pricey shoes and underage pizza delivery boys. Geez!

When you don’t want or need anything, no one can control you. You can’t be tempted, seduced or manipulated. You are your own person. A maverick. A trailblazer. Strutting to your own slutty beat. Or maybe that’s just me?

In any case, I absolutely DO NOT WANT to live in a seaside castle with 100 cats and kittens, eating vanilla-lemon cupcakes all day and watching ASMR videos on the youtubes. Not at all 😉

What about you? What do you absolutely NOT want in your life?

Is this sexy?

veronica 2Veronica is my nefarious Tarot reading twin – she’s just like me except she drinks all day, loves offending people and honestly….she has way more fun! Let’s see what ridiculous advice she has for us today…

druidcraft tarot the star

Druidcraft Tarot

A few months ago I stopped shaving my armpits. Why? Because I think it’s sexy.

Although no one else does. Yet.

But just you wait – I think I’m onto something.

My point is this – The Star is all about relaxed sensuality, going with the forces of nature and just being all round chill.

My armpit hair wants to grow, so I let it. Go with the flow and don’t try to fight nature.

Our lame, predictable society tells us that we must constantly fight against nature in order to be sexy – like waxing all your body hair off, slathering nasty antiperspirant on your pits and ….well, come to think of it, most of this violence is against armpits.

Anyhow, not doing this stuff is a small act of rebellion and it feels divine! I’m not saying you should be hairy and smelly – maybe that’s not your thing, but just let go a little, don’t fight your body so much….

Even though we can’t really see it, I’m willing to be The Star has armpit hair…in fact, I’d bet my left pit stain on it!

4 Secrets to Being a Fabulous Tarot Reader (Part 2)

In last weeks post, we covered intuition and connecting with your Tarot deck as ways to enhance the quality of your Tarot readings.

So now it’s time to dive a little deeper and tackle context and connecting the cards in a reading!

Secret #3: Understand that each Tarot Card has many facets and it’s meaning and message will change with it’s environment (context).

A fabulous Tarot reader knows that the cards – like people – are multidimensional.

This throws a lot of readers off because let’s face it, most of us would prefer the Tarot cards had specific, clear definitions so we could know exactly what they meant.

The fact that the Tarot card meanings are actually quite fluid can be frustrating – kind of like dating a flaky emo-guy who constantly changes his mind about how he feels about you.

Page of Cups from the Anna K Tarot – he’s not just a pretty face!

A Tarot card’s meaning is effected by the surrounding cards, the question/issue being asked about, the position in the spread and of course the readers intuition.

But don’t think about all that! – it will only confuse you and twist your brain into a frustrated Tarot mindfuck. So here’s what you do…

Instead of seeing the Tarot card meanings as things that need to be defined and memorized, see your cards as beings.

It’s a tad creepy, but stay with me…

Get a feel for each card’s essence, vibe and energy – this isn’t the same as it’s meaning.

It’s like when you meet someone new at a party: you learn their occupation (plumber) and relationship status (married five years!) which actually tells you very little about who they are. But you also get a sense of their energy/vibe, based on how you feel when you’re in their presence, which gives you more helpful information about what kind of a person they are.

When you get a sense of a Tarot card’s essence and see it as a multi-faceted being, you will have an easier time deciphering it’s message when it shows up in a variety of readings and spread positions.

Okay, I want you to look through your Tarot deck and pick out The Sun.

Dame Darcy Tarot

Got it? Now look at it. Feel into it. Get a sense of it’s energy, it’s vibe, what it’s all about.

Now, I want you to ask “what is the next step for me?” and look at The Sun. What is it telling you?

Ask “What do I need to do to improve my overall vitality and energy?”….now what does it say?

Ask “What do I need to let go of?” and see what it tells you.

Ask “how can I improve my relationships?” and see what it says.

How did it go? Did you get wildly different answers for each question? Did you get some new ideas and insights?

Secret #4: See the Connections between Tarot Cards in a Spread

One of the biggest gripes I hear from my audience is that they have no problem reading a Tarot card on its own, but when it comes to doing a big Tarot spread, they find it hard to link the cards together to weave a “big picture” and tell a story.

Telling a story with the cards is an art form. But it’s a skill that can be learned!

When you make connections between the cards in a reading, it can feel like you are translating a thrilling letter or solving a mystery message that’s just for you.

Think of a Tarot reading (or Tarot spread) as being like a letter. Each Tarot card is like a sentence in that letter. Each sentence means something, but all the sentences together give you a deeper, more meaningful message.

Look at the 3 cards below and see each card as being a sentence in a letter…

Crystal Visions Tarot

What does this letter say to you? Don’t think too hard about this, just go with it – make something up!

I read these 3 cards as saying you are in creative mode right now (The Empress) but you need to make sure you stay focused and intentional about what you intend to create (The Magician) so that you create something that is emotionally fulfilling and the start of something special (Ace of Cups).

Of course, there are probably a million different ways to read these cards, that is just one possibility!

Don’t “be real” – be secretive!

veronica 2Veronica is my husky voiced twin. She’s bad, she’s fabulous and she reads Tarot. When she isn’t sexily reclining on her chaise lounger and sipping something evil, she’s dishing out unsolicited advice on my blog!

the moon

Housewives Tarot

There’s a lot of trumped up talk about “authenticity” these days, which is a sure sign that almost everyone lacks it.

And while I’m all for saying what’s on your mind, telling it like it is and that whole what you see is what you get crapola, I can’t help but rebel against this sudden onslaught of asshats telling me I’m supposed to “be real.”

Fuck off already.

It’s not always wise or attractive to just reveal everything about yourself and share your private thoughts willy nilly.

The only thing hotter than being your true, authentic self is being secretive! Think of Burlesque dancers – they’re all about the slow reveal and even then they rarely ever get totally nude, which is why pasties and g-strings exist.

The Moon is all about dimming the lights, keeping a few tricks up your sleeve and smiling like a Cheshire cat that just ate a bird. Be authentic….by all means! But keep your pasties on.

4 Secrets to Being a Fabulous Tarot Reader (Part 1)

Any Joe Schmo can be a Tarot reader, but not everyone can be a FABULOUS Tarot reader!

There are specific skills that a fabulous Tarot reader possesses and I’ve narrowed it down to four distinct elements:

  1. The ability to engage your intuition while reading Tarot (and not just recite memorized card meanings like a robot)
  2. Having a special bond with your deck and a personal understanding of each Tarot card meaning
  3. The ability to see a Tarot card in different ways and read it in a variety of contexts
  4. Seeing the connections between the cards in a Tarot reading

In this post, I am going to tackle the first two elements – intuition and bonding with your cards. I will discuss context and connecting the cards next week (tease, tease!)

Secret #1: Be willing to engage your intuition and read the cards your way!

When you read a Tarot card with intellect alone, it’s flat, one-dimensional and lifeless. It’s not wrong or bad to read a Tarot card this way….it’s just incredibly boring.

And of course nothing says amateur Tarot reader like reciting memorized card definitions!

When you invite your intuition into the mix, things get interesting. The cards seem to come to life and speak directly to you! Creative ideas, solutions and new perspectives come out of the woodwork.

Also, when you incorporate your intuition into your readings, it’s like adding your own secret ingredient to the reading….making it magically personal and unforgettable!

But how do you do this? It’s all well and good to say stuff like “listen to your intuition” or “trust your gut” – but where do you start?

Here’s a tip: don’t think about the card in front of you, feel into it. Analyzing a card only gets you so far – at some point you have to just dive right in and let the card speak to you.

Here’s a blog post I wrote a while back – it gives you 7 steps for tuning into your intuition and a video where I walk you through reading a tarot card intuitively.

And if you haven’t already, download my free audio tutorial on reading a Tarot card with intuition.

how to read tarot cardsSecret #2: Get to know your deck!

Reading a book or two about Tarot can be helpful – but it doesn’t mean you know your Tarot deck.

And you really need to know your deck on a deep, personal level if you want to do meaningful readings and feel great doing them!

The only way to do this is by spending time with your deck, ask it questions, ask it more questions and see if it has questions for you.

Keep a Tarot journal and make a personal connection with each card until you understand its meaning(s) on a deep, intimate level.

There are many Tarot books and courses out there that promise to teach you Tarot fast – but getting to know your deck isn’t something you want to rush. Treat your deck like a fascinating lover – enjoy the exploration and take your time delving into all its layers and establishing a strong connection.

Veronica’s Oscar Picks

Veronica is my nefarious Tarot reading twin. At night she slinks through the streets under the cover of darkness, hunting for young, unsuspecting man-meat. By daylight she naps, writes filth and eats bon bons. But on Fridays, she reads Tarot – for you, right here…

Rider Waite Tarot

The Hermit has hobbled into your life today to tell you one thing and one thing only….

“Be a trailblazer and decide for yourself what’s good. Don’t rely on others to tell you. They have terrible taste.”

So the Oscars happened last week. Or was it the week before? I don’t know because I didn’t watch…I’m way too cool for stuff like that.

But do you notice how year after year awards are dished out to depressing films about being miserable?

Yeah. Avoid that shit.

That’s why I’m giving you my list of Oscar picks. These films were never actually nominated for an Oscar. But they should have been. And would have been if this were a sane world…

Showgirls

One of the campiest, most memorable movies to come out of the 90’s was Showgirls. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out. Of course those stuffed shirt critics panned it, but what do they know? Nothing.

https://youtu.be/yCeCGcGAcfI

Basic Instinct

This is your classic 90’s femme fatale movie starring Michael Douglas as a helpless man victim. Women in 90’s movies were always taking advantage of Michael Douglas for some reason.

Elvira: Mistress of the Dark

This movie is a classic! I remember making my babysitter watch this one probably 50 times. Sadly, at that time I didn’t realize this movie was a comedy. I thought it was a horror movie. Oh to be seven years old again!

Haunting Desires

You probably haven’t heard of this little known art-house film. It’s about a strip bar run by vampires and a perverted homicide detective who dresses like Dick Tracy. I bought the DVD at my friend’s garage sale and have since given it to my other friend as a wedding gift. I kind of got the vibe that this film was shot with one of those home movie camera’s that annoying dads carried around in the late 80’s. But it only ups the camp.

Any of the 10 Step Up movies

I didn’t realize there were so many Step Up movies until last week when I was day-drunk, scrolling through Netflix. My favorite part about these movies is that they don’t make you think. You can get up for a pee and not worry about pressing pause. You can eat popcorn and it doesn’t matter if the crunch crunch sound drowns out the “dialogue”. A masterpiece indeed…

So now I want to know…

what are your favorite movies of all time (that no one else liked)?
