Page of Pentacles ~ Daily Tarot Reading for Monday

crystal visions tarot page of pentacles
Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso

Monday’s card, Page of Pentacles, comes to us from the Crystal Visions Tarot Deck, reminding us that we are on the right path, but there is still much we need to learn in our chosen field.

This Page is all about study, learning and apprenticeship, but it refers to both formal and informal study. If you have been thinking about switching careers or branching out and trying something new, it means that studying this new information and learning new skills will be an important step for you.

Take action toward your goals today by looking into courses, programs or teachers that could help you along your new path. Or even start by getting a book on your chosen subject/field and begin doing your own research.

Make sure whatever you are investing your time, money and energy in is something that brings you joy and really captivates your interest. The process of learning should be just as exciting as your idea of this new career. Don’t waste time studying something that holds little interest for you just for the sake of getting a “good” job after.

Enjoy the journey, not just the fantasy of the destination!

*If card #7 does not provide enough insight, you can choose up to two more cards in this position for further clarification.

*Tip: Compare and contrast the cards on the left with those on the right – are they vastly different? Opposing? Or do they complement each other nicely? How do you imagine the characters on the cards to interact with each other?

3 cards on the left (Jayne – The person being read for)

Eight of Wands – Jayne prefers straightforward communication and likes things resolved quickly and smoothly. At times she may seem impatient and even blunt in her communication style.

The Empress – This tarot card shows that Jayne also has an easygoing and nurturing side to her. This can sometimes mean that she falls into the caretaker role in this relationship, always being the one to fix things and hold it all together. However, she has the advantage of using her warm, earthy qualities to connect with her partner and create trust and safety in the relationship.

The Hanged Man – Jayne may feel somewhat powerless and at the point of of just giving up and surrendering when it comes to trying to communicate with her boyfriend, but if she is able to let go of her ego a little, she will have an easier time looking at their relationship from a different perspective – perhaps even seeing his point of view.

3 cards on the right (Jayne’s boyfriend)

King of Pentacles – This court card indicates a stable, down to earth man who grounded and confident. He appreciates resolving conflicts in a calm, relaxed way.

Knight of Swords – Jayne’s boyfriend also has an aggressive, driven side to him which can make him seem cold and hard-shelled at times. When feeling insecure, he may be quick to become defensive and argumentative, using harsh words as weapons. When discussing important issues in the relationship, the atmosphere should be relaxed and respectful, taking a time-out if things get too heated.

Two of Cups – Intimacy and strong partnership is important to Jayne’s boyfriend. Sharing feelings and trusting the other are things that will not be too difficult for him under the right circumstances.

Center Card (Seven of Swords) – This card is associated with dishonesty, betrayal, not thinking things through and trying to hide something. Because this card is more on the negative side, it represents what is blocking the relationship. In order for the quality of the relationship to improve, there needs to be honesty and openness. Both parties may be holding things back because they fear the other will not understand them.

However, there are a lot of similarities between these two – The Empress is very compatible with the King of Pentacles and Eight of Wands shares a few traits with the Knight of Swords. Also, the Two of Cups is a good omen in any relationship spread! Jayne can start by being more transparent in her relationship and see if that allows her boyfriend to let down his guard a little.

Daily Tarot Reading for Monday ~ Ten of Wands

crystal visions tarot ten of wands
Ten of Wands from the Crystal Visions Tarot

Happy Monday everyone!

Today the Ten of Wands comes to us as a gentle reminder not to take on too much this week. You may be tempted today to take on a list of projects and duties, all in the name of helping others and getting things done, but this can leave you feeling bogged down and stressed out.

Be realistic in what you think you can achieve this week. You can be most productive if you prioritize and choose the most pressing issues to deal with first today. Make sure you delegate some tasks to others – you cannot be expected to do it all!

The most important thing to do today will be saying “NO” to others and being able to feel good (not guilty) about it. A friend may request your help with something that you really don’t want to do. It is okay to say no, as you may end up resenting your friend (and yourself) if you agree to something that will only put more stress on you right now.

Make sure you get a little “me time” tonight. Enjoy a hot bath with candles and make yourself some nice tea or hot chocolate while you curl up on the couch with a good book.

Daily Tarot Reading for Monday ~ The Empress

The Empress from the Crystal Visions Tarot

Today is the day to nurture your dreams and bask in the creative flow that is available to you right now.

The Empress is here to remind you that you have an enormous amount of creative potential at your fingertips and today is the day to nurture that creativity.

Let your creative ideas flow naturally to you – you shouldn’t have to try too hard today, for things are flowing easily and abundantly.

Protect your new ideas and projects from your own self doubt and from the criticism of others by keeping things to yourself for a little while – give your dreams room to grow and build strength before you cast them out into the world.

Affirmation for the day: When I relax, creative ideas flow easily to me

My New Deck Ritual

Is there anything more fun and exciting than getting a new Tarot deck?

Well, okay, I can think of a few things, but exploring a new deck is one of my favorite things to do! And I thought I’d share my process of breaking in a new Tarot or oracle card deck with you.

#1 Make a date with your new deck

I like to set aside an hour or so in the evening or on a lazy Sunday to just go through the deck and look at all the cards. I make it a bit of a ritual by pouring myself a cup of tea or hot cocoa and nesting up in a comfy spot where I won’t be disturbed.

This is my comfy Tarot study chair

This is usually always my first introduction to a new deck.

I rarely just jump into doing readings right away. Why? Because to me it feels too much like hopping into bed with someone you’ve just met – totally great for some but I need time to warm up.

#2 Cleanse your Tarot cards

Honestly, I’m pretty lax about energetically cleansing my cards. If it’s a brand new deck I often forget, but if it’s a used deck, I always remember. Cleansing your cards can be a nice ritual that helps you bond with your deck and make it yours.

Here are some different ways you can cleanse your cards:

  • Light up a big bundle of sage and waft the smoke all over the cards (my favorite!)
  • Put your deck in a bag of quartz crystals or simply sit a crystal on top of your deck when you aren’t using it. Those who work with crystals can “program” their crystal to clear the decks energy.
    ~
  • Spread your cards on a windowsill or table where the moonlight will shine on them and leave them there overnight. Bonus if it’s a full moon!
    ~
  • Hold the deck in your hands and close your eyes and feel your energy radiating out through your palms and into the cards, cleansing them of any unwanted energies and infusing them with your essence.

#3 Interview your new deck

Instead of asking your deck questions about your life, ask it questions about itself like…

  • What kind of a Tarot deck are you? What card sums up your personality?
  • What issues/areas of life do you specialize in?
  • How can you best help me?
  • What quality is most important in a Tarot reader?
  • How do you see our relationship?
Dame Darcy Tarot

The cards that come up in response to these questions will give you a nice idea of your decks personality and attitude. This one of my absolute favorite things to do with a new deck!!!

#4 Try some simple one-card readings

Before I get serious and dive into doing full spreads, I like to play around with trying some fun, basic one card Tarot readings.

Here are some ideas to get you started…

20 Questions to Ask Your Tarot Cards Tonight

How long does it take to “get to know” a Tarot deck”?

I’ve noticed that I take to some decks right away and others take a bit of time to bond with. I recently got the Everyday Witch Tarot and I instantly clicked with it and was able to start doing readings with it right out of the box.

However, most decks take some warming up.

I got the Prisma Visions Tarot as a gift and that deck is deep! It’s not a slam-bam-thank-you-maam deck like the Everyday Witch, that’s for sure. It refuses to just give up the goods at first glance. I’ve been taking my time to slowly get to know this deck for the past few months, as it demands to be read in a slow, thoughtful, soul-excavating manner.

So how long it takes you to “break in” a Tarot or oracle deck will depend on the deck and of course your level of reading experience. When I was new to card reading, it took me much longer to bond with my decks and start doing readings with them. So if you’re a beginner, be patient!

What are YOUR new deck rituals?
