Set Yourself Free! Tarot Card for Thursday…

goat
Animal Wisdom Tarot by Dawn Brunke

Today’s Tarot card is Goat: Shadow God of Liberation (aka The Devil). Ask yourself if you are truly free. How do you define “freedom” anyway?

You may be powerfully drawn to that which glitters and sparkles, but beware that these things may not bring you the freedom you crave…only further enslavement.

Perhaps you are telling yourself that if you buy this thing or take this drug or have sex with this person then everything will be better and you will be happier. But nothing brings true happiness like true freedom!

A big wardrobe, new cars and fancy gym memberships are nice, but not having to go to a job you despise is even better! The only thing worth desiring is freedom – everything else is just mere distraction from the fact that you are not as free as you need to be.

So take stock of your desires and pay attention to where you put your energy and then ask yourself: am I breaking my chains or building my prison?

Annoying Tarot Cards

Last week I did a post about the Tarot Court Cards and how for a long time, they totally baffled me. I overcame this by spending quality time learning my Court Cards, but what about those cards that you’ve tried to learn, again and again and again….and they STILL baffle you?

the hierophant tarot card meaning
Card image is from The Rider-Waite Tarot Deck published by U.S.Games Systems, Inc.

For me, the Seven of Swords, Five of Swords and The Hierophant are the three Tarot cards that almost always leave me stumbling for words (when doing a professional reading) and just plain confused when reading for myself. I have meditated on these cards, wrote pages about them, read all my Tarot books, etc….and I still feel like I am seeing these cards for the first time when I get them.

Why is that?!

The only explanation I can come up with is that they must represent aspects of myself which I have not fully accepted. Or something along those lines.

What about YOU? What Tarot cards continue to confuse and baffle you, despite your best efforts to understand them? And why do you think that is? Let me know in the comment section below!…

The Hermit ~ Tarot Card for Tuesday

paulina tarot the hermit
Paulina Tarot by Paulina Cassidy

The Hermit is today’s Tarot card, which suggests that now is the time to go inward to find answers. If possible, set aside some time today to rest, relax, meditate and journal.

It may seem like there are many distractions in your life – people, chores and other things that seem to demand your attention. So remember that you do not have to wait for these things to recede in order to go within. You can go within at any time, no matter what is happening.

Notice the energy and light that resides within you – its easiest to notice it in your hands first, and sometimes your head and face. Put your attention on where you feel this life-energy the strongest and then feel it getting bigger and spreading out over your whole body. Feel yourself glowing from the inside out.

As you radiate this glowing energy, know that you are in a higher state of consciousness – if you ask your higher self for guidance right now, you will be amazed at what you receive!

Nine of Pentacles Tarot Card Reading for Tuesday!

gilded-tarot-nine-of-pentacles
The Gilded Tarot by Ciro Marchetti

Today I drew the Nine of Pentacles Tarot card, which is all about abundance and the importance of feeling wealthy and comfortable.

Right now, take a moment to celebrate what you have – particularly that which you enjoy. This will let you get into that abundant state of mind, allowing even more abundance to be drawn to you. It’s a wonderful way to start the day.

The message I get from the Nine of Pentacles Tarot card is that abundance means having choices in life and being free to do as you choose and not because you need the money. It does not mean vast amounts of material wealth, but having the freedom to choose your own path.

Ask yourself: would I be doing my job if I wasn’t getting paid for it? Then ask yourself: What work would I be doing if I didn’t need to work for money?

A few years ago I decided that I wasn’t going to do anything only for the money – there had to be some other draw. This is perhaps the worst get rich quick plan ever, but it certainly guarantees that my work is always in line with my values, passions and life purpose. I have not always, 100% stuck to this philosophy, but I use it as a guide when deciding where to put my time and energy.

Today is the last day to sign up for the Full Moon Reading on Oct 1st at the discounted price! Find out what’s in store for the month of October…

Ten of Swords ~ Tarot Reading for Wednesday

ten of swords tarot card
The Dream Enchantress Tarot by Marco Nizzoli

Today’s Tarot card, Ten of Swords, asks the question what happens after you have slayed all your dragons? What will be left for you to focus on?

Sometimes our “problems” become a big part of who we are and we can harbor a secret fear that life will be boring and empty once all the drama has ended. Conflict isn’t just stressful – it can also be exciting and entertaining. Drama can definitely add a certain spiciness to life!

So when you say that you “don’t want anymore drama”, are you being completely honest with yourself?

Another theme I get from this card is that we are all ONE, and we are all deeply connected to each other. So if we hurt, despise or attack someone else, we are also doing this to a part of ourselves. The dragon in this card represents the Shadow Self, the aspect of our self that we deny and repress. When we recognize this aspect in others, we seek to destroy or criticize them.

In this way, the “drama” that we create in our lives is often a way for us to engage with our shadow aspects in the hope that they will eventually be healed. This Ten of Swords tarot card suggests that instead of slaying your dragon, make friends with it and notice how it begins to transform your life!

Princess of Cups ~ Tarot Card for Thursday

druidcraft tarot princess of cups
The Druidcraft Tarot by Philip and Stephanie Carr-Gomm and Will Worthington

Today’s Tarot Card, the Princess of Cups, encourages you to truly enjoy being alive. Take time to savor earthly delights such as walking barefoot across the grass, eating good food, the feel of the sunlight on your skin and the smell of Summer in the air.

Your ability to create a beautiful life for yourself and progress on a spiritual level is connected to how well you are able to enjoy this present moment.

In general, our society discourages us from spending long periods of time just luxuriating in the beauty of what is. Instead we are encouraged to rush about and to be at war with what is, exerting a ton of effort to change things. The best book I have read on this topic is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.

So be a rebel today – allow yourself to accept everything as it is and enjoy the relaxation and peace that follows from this way of being. Today will be all about re-learning how to fully enter the present moment and to stop and smell the roses. Today, be like this Princess of Cups – calm, receptive and joyous.

Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue

The card for today is Freyja and she comes from the Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards. Her message is to “unleash your adventurous side! Take risks and be daring.”

If you normally like to play it safe and stick to the tired and true, challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone and take a risk today. Do something that you have been too scared to do in the past, but always wanted to!

Today is the perfect day to tune into the energy of Freyja and find that bold, saucy aspect in your own personality. Make your own rules today! Live life on your own terms and don’t let anyone push you around. Like the card says, be adventurous! Try something new or adopt a brave, fearless perspective on life.

Daily Tarot Reading for Monday ~ Existence

osho zen tarot
Osho Zen Tarot

Today’s daily tarot reading is all about feeling at home no matter where you are. Many of us are always searching for that perfect job, home or partner so we can feel “settled” or “at home” when in reality it has nothing to do with these things.

This week, focus on feeling “at home” in your body, mind and spirit. When you make peace with yourself, it doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing, you will always feel at home.

The other message I got with this card is that we are all powerful creators who are an important part of the universe. What we think and feel creates the world around us and so this week will also be about becoming conscious of how we are directing our thoughts and feelings. Take a moment to recognize your ability to manifest and celebrate all the great things in your life that you have created and attracted to you.

Daily Oracle Card for Sat & Sun ~ Healing Heart

magical mermaids and dolphins oracle cards doreen virtue
Magical Mermaids and Dolphins Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue

The daily oracle card for today is Healing Heart and it’s message is: “you’re a powerful healer, keep up the great work!”

This weekend will be all about healing yourself and others in many different ways. The healing power of the ocean figures prominently in this card and I feel like any activity by the ocean – relaxing on the beach, swimming, boating, kayaking – will be healing this weekend.

Laughter is also healing – and so the more you connect with friends, spouses, kids and pets, the more opportunity for shared laughter.

But the real message of this card is to be fully present in your interactions with others this weekend – and this in itself will bring about an incredible healing energy that will bring about peaceful and positive feelings. When your talking with a friend, really listen to them and when you are snuggling with your pet, sense the energy that is being exchanged.

Try to minimize multitasking this weekend, as it is difficult to be fully present when you are trying to do a bunch of things at once. Just focusing completely on doing one thing at a time will be healing for your mind, body and spirit – and for those around you.

Have a lovely, healing weekend!!!

Four of Cups ~ Daily Tarot Reading for Friday

fenestra tarot
Four of Cups from The Fenestra Tarot

The Four of Cups tarot card suggests you could be feeling a little apathetic about something today. An opportunity that just doesn’t excite you may arise this afternoon. Or you could just be feeling generally uninspired about what the weekend has to offer.

Don’t pass up a good opportunity just because you are feeling kind of blah. However, if alone time is what you need, don’t hesitate to take a break from the rat-race to recharge your batteries.

This card can come up when you are feeling indifferent about things you used to be excited about. If what used to thrill you just makes you feel tired, ask yourself what has changed. What was it about this hobby, job or person that was so appealing to you before? What is unappealing about it now?

You can break out of this rut by doing something totally unexpected and out of the ordinary today (or this weekend). Try an activity that you always wanted to try – go indoor rock climbing or go to a bellydance class. Go to a movie by yourself (if you don’t normally do this), or spend the day at the beach, reading a trashy novel. Do whatever it takes to shake things up!

The Four of Cups Tarot Card is here to remind you that only you can change your energy – don’t wait for someone else to sweep in and do it for you!
