What’s YOUR Guilty Pleasure?

For the past 340 days, I have blogged about Tarot. And I have loved every minute of it. But I woke up this morning and thought I want to write about something different today.

Since I am currently taking a writing class called How to Be a Guilty Pleasure, I have been busy crafting an epic list of all my guilty pleasures (of which I have many!) and in doing so I have realized something. You can really tell a lot about someone by their guilty pleasures…

And lately I have been itching to know more about my audience (YOU!).

So I would love it if you shared with me your ultimate Guilty Pleasures – those things you love to do but hate to admit (for example, watching all the Twilight movies. Alone. In a dark theater. While scarfing down Kit-Kats and Cheese Crisps). Its okay, I won’t judge.

But its only fair if I first reveal my own Guilty Pleasures. But just so you know, I don’t actually feel guilty about any of them. Here goes….

1. Camping out in metaphysical bookstores

2. Paranormal Teen Romance Movies (like Twilight and…well, I can’t think of any others right now)

3. Dairymilk’s pretzel and peanut butter chocolate bars (sometimes consumed whilst viewing the paranormal teen romance film mentioned above)

4. Naps for no reason

5. Watching bellydance videos on YouTube

6. Listening to Reggae music while I make curry and it rains outside

7. Hot baths in the afternoon, while reading the latest Philippa Gregory novel

8. Going to the movies alone (you have no choice when you watch crap like Twilight)

9. Sipping tea out of a fancy, rose-painted teacup

10. Writing scathing film reviews of terrible movies (for example, the fourth installment of Twilight)

11. Lurking in health food stores, reading the labels on everything and harassing the staff

12. Watching Game of Thrones until 3am

13. Devouring freshly popped popcorn covered in coconut oil and pink Himalayan sea salt. Pairs nicely with #12

14. Obsessively googling my latest celebrity crush like a crazed stalker (right now its Kit Harington from Game of Thrones – the dude who plays Jon Snow. But next week it will be someone new)

15. Traipsing about in a long, grey cardigan, disintegrating bedroom slippers and grey sweatpants (sometimes done in conjunction with #14)

16. Petting horses at the Summer fair. I love doing this!

17. Last but not least…..shopping for Tarot decks and books on Amazon. If being hopelessly addicted to acquiring new Tarot decks is wrong, then I don’t want to be right!

Get Outside! Archangel Jophiel Tells it to you Straight…

Today’s Archangel Oracle card is Outdoors, represented by Archangel Jophiel. Her message is “Go outside, get some fresh air and connect with nature to relieve stress and gain new and creative ideas.”

Its hard to feel uninspired and pissy when your surrounded by tweeting birds and leafy greens. Take some time today to commune with nature and soak up the sun (or rain).

Creative ideas will unfold seamlessly when you step outside with the critters. I guarantee it will lift your spirits. Unless you get bitten by something.

Make Today Come Alive! The Seven of Pentacles Reveals the Secret to True Success…

The Seven of Pentacles is all about patience, patience, patience! Your hard work will pay off….eventually. Right now is the time for you to enjoy the process and don’t worry so much about the results.

The naked, tattooed chick with horns on this card is gazing at these flowers with rapt fascination. The more fascinated you are by the process of “getting there”, the more bountiful and glorious the fruits of your labor will be.

Don’t be goal oriented. Bleh! Be process oriented.

The effort to attain something is often more fun than the attainment itself. This is easy to forget sometimes! So focus on making the journey more fun and interesting and let your eye wander off “the prize”.

Will Today be Whiny Wednesday? Three of Swords Takes the Stage…

The Three of Swords is one of the most miserable cards in the Tarot, in my opinion. But don’t worry, it doesn’t foretell how things will be today.

Rather, it tells you what to stop doing today!

The Three of Swords indicates you are feeling disappointed by someone or something. Did someone not live up to your expectation? Did something not bring you the fulfillment it was supposed to?

Stop sniveling and get on with it!

Okay, maybe that’s a bit harsh. Sorry. You are feeling a little raw right now because it has become apparently clear that something/someone is not all it was cracked up to be. And that can hurt.

But it won’t last long. The best thing for you to do today is to avoid stewing in your own disappointment. If you catch yourself mentally rambling to yourself about how crummy something is, take a breath and think of kittens.

Is Ignorance Really Bliss? Oracle Card Reading for Monday…

Today’s Oracle card is Once Was Innocent and it says “Knowledge means change.”

Its impossible for you to gain the information you seek and have things stay the same after. If you want to expand your perceptions, you must first accept that your life will be forever changed.

In the past, you may have been tempted to just bury your head in the sand or put your fingers in your ears and go la la la la la la. But not anymore. Now you are ready to see the big picture.

As you move forward in your life and open your eyes to new possibilities, let go of those old ideas like “what I don’t know can’t hurt me” or “ignorance is bliss”. You can still be wise, in-the-know and blissful – it just takes a little more creativity!

6 Ways to Choose a Tarot Card

Pick a card, any card!

But is there a “right” way to choose a Tarot card?

No – but there are many different ways to choose one! In my video below, I demonstrate my 6 favorite ways to choose a Tarot card:

*Tip: Always use your left hand when choosing a Tarot card, as that is your intuitive hand.

1) Fall-away Method:
Hold the deck in your left hand and tilt to one side. Part of the deck will fall away, revealing a gap – choose the top card!

2) Cut Method:
Simply cut the deck using your left hand. This is the easiest (and most boring!) way to choose a card.

3) Doreen Virtue’s Method:
Shuffle the cards until you feel its time to stop. Choose the top card. This is all well and good unless you are OCD like me and can never stop shuffling.

4) Card Hand Method:
Fan the cards out like you are playing a mean game of poker, except that the cards should be facing out so you can’t see them (maybe I should have called this one the drunk poker method).

5) Fan-out Method:
Fan cards out on a table, Magician style. Either choose the card your eye is most drawn to, or float your hand over the cards and stop when you feel tingles in your palm.

6) Pop-up Method:
This one’s hard to explain in words – so watch the video (its right at the end).

*A note about “jumpers”: If a card jumps out of the deck when you are shuffling, you must choose that card, or at least leave it out and make sure to include it in the reading. These cards are extra-special!

Greetings! I returned home yesterday from my vacation in Alaska and after a full day of laundry, unpacking and doing the usual boring post-vacation stuff, I am excited to get back to my daily readings!

Today’s Tarot card is the Page of Pentacles, one of my faves! This card has come to speak to the student within you – the lifelong learner that loves learning new skills and reading countless books.

Today is the day to fully immerse yourself in learning something for its own sake. Don’t learn to better yourself – learn because its fun, because it lets you be in the moment.

Take an inquisitive approach to problems and challenges today. Do your research before making a decision and don’t assume you know how another person feels.

When it comes to being creative, don’t let your inexperience hold you back. So what if your artwork or music sucks? Keep at it and you’ll get way better than you ever thought possible. Be willing to experiment today!

Tarot Card for Wednesday: Who IS This Knight of Pentacles?

The Knight of Pentacles shows up today as someone in your life…someone who drives you nuts!

This person (probably a man), is annoyingly sensible, down to earth in a boring way and is a real stick in the mud.

Who is this person in your life?

It could be your romantic partner, a co-worker, a friend or sibling. This person has money, only because they are terrified of spending any and they think everything through….for years.

But one things for sure: they are grating on your nerves with their “but what if?” mentality.

Your role is to support them in moving forward. No, they don’t like to be pushed. But see if you can make them feel comfortable and safe enough so that they can trust in life for once.

Your relaxed, can-do attitude will rub off on them…..eventually.
