Welcome to part 6 of my 16 part series Meet the Court Cards ā each week we will hang out with ONE court card and dive deeply into the symbols, personality traits, talents and dark side. This is similar to my Major Arcana Meanings Deep Diveseries, but weāll also explore how each court card acts in the context of love, work and money.
Iāll give you specific ways to embody this card as well as some journalling questions to help you connect with this card on a more personal level ?
Today weāre diving into the Knight of Swordsā the most intense and driven of all the Knights, this guy is all balls-to-the-wall and then some!
Sit back, relax and discover the dirty secrets, beautiful wisdom and unique talents of this Knightā¦
Element = Air (mind, intellect, thoughts, beliefs, communication)
Clouds ā confusion, distraction (which he cuts through)
Red cape ā passion and intensity
Red plume (looks like wings) ā taking flight, flying through the air
Body language (arm raised/mouth open) ā battle cry! Ready to fight!
Talents:
The Knight of Swordscan focus like no other! He tunes out distraction and can get things done with speed and efficiency. Once he puts his mind to it, thereās no stopping him!
He has impressive energy and intensity about him and he isnāt afraid of a fight ā in fact, he thrives in a brutal environment and is more likely to go after something if it feels hard-core.
At a partyā¦
Youāll find the Knight of Swords in the back, snorting lines of coke, slamming shots of Fireball and calling up escorts. He has a real work hard, play hard mentality and heās always looking to blow off steam and balance out all the hard work that fills most of his days.
He brings a certain brand of intensity to a party, so you might think twice before inviting him. Once heās all coked up he likes to pick fights and aggressively hit on the youngest and hottest guests. Heās known for doing things like cannon balling into a pool when the cover was on, throwing a party guest through a plate glass window and projectile vomiting all over his hostās brand new white leather sofa.
In loveā¦
The Knight of Swordsloves the thrill of the chase! He gets so caught up in the pursuit but quickly loses interest once heās captured someoneās heart. He can seem very impressive at first because initially he is very hyper-focused on his love interest, making them feel so very, very special, but then he shifts that hyper focus onto his work and ignores his partner.
He can be passionate and intense for bursts and then disappear without warning, often becoming absent, distracted and obsessed with work. Since he tends to see relationships as a distraction, heās more into hook ups, brief flings and sex workers than a serious relationship.
In workā¦
This is where this Knight excels, even if all other areas of his life are falling apart. He can be a real workaholic, channelling all his grief, rage and frustration into his work and getting a rush off being hyper focused and driven. He derives his sense of self from his job so if he loses it, he can spiral into a full blown identity crises.
He does well in finance, as a Wall Street guy or a daytrader but would also do well in any job that allows him to talk non-stop since he loves the sound of his own voice. Being a podcaster or stand up comedian, celebrity, or even a writer who churns out book after book would all be suitable professions for this intense Knight.
In moneyā¦.
The Knight of Swords makes money quickly and knows how to spend it just as fast! Impulsivity and risk taking are this Knightās forte, so he doesnāt shy away from risky and high stakes investments. And when he spends money, he does it intensely and goes all in.
Heās not really materialistic, but heās always looking for a rush so while he might blow tons of money on a fancy car it isnāt really about the car, or even the illusion of status, itās about the momentary thrill of making the purchase.
This Knight thrives onā¦
Having a goal, project, challenge or problem to solve! He needs something to focus his attention on – without this he self destructs. Heās like a rambunctious little kid with tons of energy who needs an activity or heāll start causing problems and destroying things.
One of his favourite things is….WAR! Wartime is where the Knight of Swords really shines as heās a true warrior, through and through ā the high stress, constant drama and black and white thinking so prevalent in wartime really bring out his best instincts, allowing him to do what heās been always longing to do ā fight!
Heās also a good candidate for big city life as he loves all the hustle and bustle and crowds of people. His gifts blossom in a high stress, fast paced environment ā as long as thereās lots of work and things to do, heāll be alright.
He canāt standā¦
Having nothing to do, tasks that arenāt challenging enough and being stuck in one place. This dude has energy to burn and places to go ā so donāt try to tie him down!
The small town life doesnāt suit him and heāll shatter under the quiet weight of those quaint country vibes. He also flounders in a peaceful, laid back environment ā it makes him antsy and uncomfortable. While he doesnāt create drama or conflict (like the Page of Swords), he most certainly looks for it.
His main challenge is to make sure the things heās focused on and going after are actually important and that he isnāt falling into the trap of chasing busy-ness and action and thrills.
Dark side of the Knight of Swords
This Knight can be impulsive and thirsty for action, seeking out drama and looking for a good fight.
While heās gifted with the ability to really hone in on his goal, all that intense focus isnāt sustainable and he tends to burn out eventually.
All his efforts can be for nothing (or even destructive) if he isnāt clear on his why. If his actions arenāt connected to a deeper mission or meaning in his life, he can succumb to just keeping busy.
Practices to embody this card:
– Set a goal and focus on one thing at a time and block out all distractions
– Drink lots of coffee š
– Practice ābatch daysā ā focusing on ONE thing for the whole day to maximize productivity (like cooking all your meals for the week on a Sunday and freezing some of them or writing three blog posts in one day)
Journalling Questions:
ā„ Where in your life can you benefit from these traits?
ā„ Where would you like to be less like this knight?
ā„ How can you bring in more balance and avoid burnout?
ā„ What helps you focus and avoid distractions?

Welcome to part 5 of my 16 part series Meet the Court Cards ā each week we will hang out with ONE court card and dive deeply into the symbols, personality traits, talents and dark side. This is similar to my Major Arcana Meanings Deep Diveseries, but weāll also explore how each court card acts in the context of love, work and money.
Iāll give you specific ways to embody this card as well as some journalling questions to help you connect with this card on a more personal level š
Today weāre diving into the Knight of Pentaclesā cautious, slow and steady, heās not like all the other Knights!
Sit back, relax and discover the secrets, wisdom and talents of this Knightā¦
Element = Earth (physicality, body, health, money, home)
Red = blood & earth, first chakra (he needs to feel SAFE before moving forward)
Black horse = black = protection (he can be a bit of a dark horse and surprise you sometimes)
Green plume of tree = growth, nature, life
Stillness = heās the slowest moving knight
Talents:
The Knight of Pentacles knows how to slow down, be patient and play the long game. Heās delightfully sensible and always avoids impulsivity and making any rash decisions.
What you see is what you get with this practical Knight. Heās a salt of the Earth type of guy who likes to think things through and do his research, giving him an uncanny ability to time things just right.
At a partyā¦
Youāll find him quietly sitting in a corner, observing everything from afar, like a cat. Heās great at sussing out a room but truth be told he doesnāt really like parties much, preferring to hang out with just one or two friends or his loyal pets.
He does love eating, so you might find him at the snack table, gleefully stuffing his face but this is often done just so he doesnāt have to make awkward conversation with others ā you canāt talk if your mouth is full!
If you do manage to corner him and make him talk, he wonāt say anything particularly interesting. He rarely does anything outside his usual routine, so he relies heavily on spouting bland facts that he read somewhere rather than engaging you in thrilling conversation. But at least heās always nice and polite.
In loveā¦
Heās no romantic, so donāt expect poetry, roses and candlelight dinners, but he is loyal, trustworthy and physically affectionate ā and a great hugger! He values commitment in a relationship, making him more of a marrying type, especially compared to the other free-wheeling Knights.
However, he can get stuck in a rut in relationships and they can get stale and boring (not for him, but for the other person!). His partners will always be trying to add variety and mix things up, much to this Knightās dismay. Heās a real homebody, so heāll want to stay home every night and he can quickly become complacent in relationships, letting his partner do all the work to keep things moving along.
He drags his heels whenever it comes to moving forward in the relationship (like saying āi love youā, moving in, getting married, having children, etc), which will frustrate his significant other to no end. Despite all this, heās actually not commitment phobic, he just needs to be 100% sure of his feelings before moving forward in a relationship.
In workā¦
The Knight of Pentacles values stability, predictability and routine in a job, so he typically avoids going the self employment route and tends to keep the same job for long periods of time, decades even. He wonāt have an exciting career but heāll always have steady employment.
Heās hardworking and loyal but not particularly driven or what youād call a āladder climberā. He couldnāt care less about being a CEO or whatever.
What he lacks in creativity and genius, he makes up for in sheer stamina! He isnāt afraid of hard work and heās able to work long hours, do hard physical labour and focus on boring, repetitive tasks without tiring. Just donāt expect him to get things done quickly ā this dude works on his own timeline!
In moneyā¦.
As you might have guessed, the Knight of Pentacles is really good at saving money and very prudent when it comes to spending. Since he always has a steady income (but rarely a high income), he doesnāt take risks with his money. He will always have a nice nest egg but you wonāt catch him blowing wads of cash on luxury cars, fancy watches or lavish dinners.
While security is important to this Knight, heās not materialistic. Sure, he enjoys good food and nice surroundings but he values other things more ā like family, friendship, nature, a good book and a quiet night in. He couldnāt care less about things like status or impressing people with a flashy car or fancy home.
This Knight thrives onā¦
Security, routine, predictability and comfort – this is all very grounding to him. He loves tranquil, calm and peaceful environments, which is why he loves spending time in nature, especially when thereās no rush. He does best when he has a specific and achievable goal to work towards, otherwise he can become a bit of a loafer!
He canāt standā¦
Unpredictability, change, chaos, drama and high stakes ā these are all very ungrounding and discombobulating for him! He loathes it when things are āup in the airā or being forced to make a decision when he isnāt ready yet. He flounders when he doesnāt feel in control or if he feels forced or rushed in any way.
Dark side of the Knight of Pentacles
The worst thing about this Knight is that he can be a bit boring and predictable. He often says NO reflexively when presented with new opportunities and heās kind of incapable of moving forward of his own accord. He tends to stagnate easily and as long as heās comfy, he wonāt change a thing.
He often freezes if he feels unsafe or unsure of himself and to make matters worse, he will self-soothe by being a bit of a know-it-all. Heāll project an illusion of extreme confidence in having all the answers to everything all the time, but this is just a mask and he isnāt really trying to be a jerk, it just happens.
And please donāt tell this guy your really fascinating UFO abduction story ā he can be very close minded and will just think youāre a nut! Heās almost too down-to-Earth sometimes and just isnāt open to anything that canāt be seen, measured and proven in the physical world.
Practices to embody this card:
– Create a routine or make a to-do list
– Stay home tonight and enjoy a quiet night in, reading and listening to music
– Give yourself time and space to really think things through and do your research
– Slow down! Next time you eat or make love, try doing it at a snailās pace and see what happens
Journalling Questions:
ā„ Where in your life can you benefit from slowing down? Or taking more time to think things through?
ā„ How can you create a feeling of safety and comfort for yourself as you move forward and make changes?
ā„ How can you cultivate a slow and steady approach to a project/goal/or life area?
ā„ Where are you like this Knight?
ā„ Where would you like to be less like him? More like him?
Tell me your thoughts!

So let’s see what wisdom, ideas and advice the cards have for us this week…..
