We all have a favorite Tarot card. Mine is The Star, with The Hermit being a close second. Believe it or not, your favorite Tarot card says a lot about you and where you are right now on your life path.

Okay, now that you have your favorite Tarot card in front of you, I want to reveal the four “keys” that will unlock the secrets (about you!) hidden in this card. Does that sound ultra-dramatic or what?!

Key #1: Color
What color is most prominent in your favorite Tarot card? This tells you what is most important to you right now.

  • Red / Orange – this color signifies passion and drive and is strongly associated with the areas of career, power, creativity, action and movement. Chances are career is important to you, as is living your passion and making your mark on the world. You are goal oriented, prefer to be busy and love an adventure! You are a go-getter at heart.

  • Blue / Green – relaxation and going within are what you enjoy the most. You are introverted, sensitive and always seem to want more down-time in your life. You nurture your creativity and inspiration by journeying inward and recharge your batteries by spending time alone. Meditation, writing, reading, crystals and being by the ocean are all things that you love.

 

  • Purple – You are strongly focused on spirituality at the moment. You are in the process of getting in touch with your own divinity and connecting to spirit. You share many of the blue/green traits, but you are very interested in things like astrology, the cosmos, reading channeled books, ascension, hypnosis and activating your psychic abilities. Others may think you are weird – but you could care less!

 

  • Yellow – You are working on issues related to abundance, self-esteem and courage. Establishing strong boundaries will help you through this phase in your life, as well as developing a practice of self-love and appreciation. This symbolizes the energy that you are most closely aligned with at the moment. If the figure is a male, you are probably quite focused on doing, whereas if the figure is female, you are likely more focused on being. If it’s non-binary, perhaps you’re trying to balance out these energies.

Key #3: Action
Is there any action going on in your favorite Tarot card? Whats happening in it?

If your favorite Tarot card depicts someone on a horse, this can indicate that you are ready to really up your game and go for your dreams.

If your card shows people interacting (like The Lovers, Six of Cups or Three of Cups) this can mean that relationships and communication are front in center in your life right now.

Key #4: Symbols
Is there a particular symbol in the card that stands out to you?

Look into the spiritual significance of this symbol or ask yourself what you think this symbol means. Chances are it represents something you are desiring or something that is important to you.

For example, the first thing I notice in my favorite Tarot card, The Star, is the water being poured out of both cups. To me this represents the flow of life and establishing a sense of trust in the Universe. This is something I constantly remind myself of to help stay relaxed and optimistic in times of doubt and struggle.

The Knight of Pentacles Tarot card (or Prince of Pentacles in the Druidcraft Tarot), is here today to encourage you to take your time to think things through, but don’t get too hung up on playing it safe.

The Knight of Pentacles is a sensible, hesitant Knight – he is the only Knight in the Tarot who isn’t moving forward! This suggests that you may feel like things have come to a standstill or you are hesitating about moving forward on your path because you want to make sure you are going in the right direction.

The Knight of Pentacles Tarot card also indicates a strong need to feel safe and secure. This can become a problem if it continually holds you back from taking risks and stepping outside your comfort zone. Focus on feeling safe even when you are challenged or in unfamiliar surroundings – this will help you move forward on your path with confidence and excitement.

It is time to wake up! Now, more than ever, spiritual awakening is becoming an important focus for many of us. The Devil Tarot card symbolizes that state of unawareness that we can often find ourselves in.

It is very common to go through your days in a kind of mental slumber, not really noticing what’s going on and not seeing the big picture. There is a saying that “ignorance is bliss”, as if becoming awakened is a horrible experience to be avoided!

The Devil Tarot card also symbolizes all the things that keep you feeling limited and oppressed. Today’s Tarot Card, the Princess of Cups, encourages you to truly enjoy being alive. Take time to savor earthly delights such as walking barefoot across the grass, eating good food, the feel of the sunlight on your skin and the smell of Summer in the air.

Your ability to create a beautiful life for yourself and progress on a spiritual level is connected to how well you are able to enjoy this present moment.

In general, our society discourages us from spending long periods of time just luxuriating in the beauty of what is. Instead we are encouraged to rush about and to be at war with what is, exerting a ton of effort to change things. The best book I have read on this topic is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.

So be a rebel today – allow yourself to accept everything as it is and enjoy the relaxation and peace that follows from this way of being. Today will be all about re-learning how to fully enter the present moment and to stop and smell the roses. Today, be like this Princess of Cups – calm, receptive and joyous.

Guess what? My evil twin Veronica is baaaaack! After a several month long “sabbatical” full of cocktails, weed, hot construction workers and hammock naps, she’s raring to get back in the saddle.

The holiday season is upon us and it creates a lush environment for The One-Upper to thrive.

Whether it’s excessive gift-giving, over the top home made cookie tins or crafting illusions of extreme busyness, The One-Upper in your life is in their fucking element right now.

And if you usually wring your hands in despair at these expensive gift bearing sharks, listen up.

The best way to deal with The One-Upper is to take full advantage of them.

Enjoy their efforts. Thank them. Be sincere. But do not feel pressured to reciprocate or match the bizarre level of energy and enthusiasm of The One-Upper.

Sure, they’ll think you’re an asshole, but who cares?

You’ll both be getting what you need – they’ll get to reinforce their inner narrative that they’re the good one who tries extra hard and you’re the lazy fuck-up. And you’ll get to practice the zen art of being okay with others thinking you’re a grade A douche bag.

Druidcraft Tarot

A few months ago I stopped shaving my armpits. Why? Because I think it’s sexy.

Although no one else does. Yet.

But just you wait – I think I’m onto something.

My point is this – The Star is all about relaxed sensuality, going with the forces of nature and just being all round chill.

My armpit hair wants to grow, so I let it. Go with the flow and don’t try to fight nature.

Our lame, predictable society tells us that we must constantly fight against nature in order to be sexy – like waxing all your body hair off, slathering nasty antiperspirant on your pits and ….well, come to think of it, most of this violence is against armpits.

Anyhow, not doing this stuff is a small act of rebellion and it feels divine! I’m not saying you should be hairy and smelly – maybe that’s not your thing, but just let go a little, don’t fight your body so much….

Even though we can’t really see it, I’m willing to be The Star has armpit hair…in fact, I’d bet my left pit stain on it!
