Are you ready to blossom into a confident and inspiring Tarot reader?

Hey, I’m Kate! AKA the Daily Tarot Girl

I first learned Tarot over seventeen years ago and have since taught thousands of people how to read Tarot through my 1,000+ YouTube videos, live webinars, podcasts, blog posts, online classes and private lessons.

I REALLY struggled with confidence for the first 6 years of reading Tarot! I had plenty of knowledge and experience yet I still doubted myself.

I worried about disappointing my clients, saying the wrong thing, drawing a blank or just giving an unhelpful reading that didn’t “resonate.” I would worry and obsess over my readings for days!

I wanted to help people with my readings but my confidence issues were stressing me out. And if skill, knowledge & experience hadn’t brought me confidence, then what on Earth would?

Eventually I figured out the missing piece: I was focusing on pleasing people rather than on helping them. I was in my head when I needed to be in my heart. Once I realized this, my readings changed and my confidence skyrocketed.

My mission with this course is to show you how to give helpful & inspiring Tarot readings that make a positive impact – on both you and the people you read for!

What my students say…

Kate is a gifted and generous tarot teacher. She put together a wonderful course for those of us who want to delve deeper into reading Tarot. I definitely recommend her courses, if you are willing to put the work into honing your Tarot skills. Kate is amazing!

Tahel Alma

I thoroughly enjoyed the Reading Tarot for Others course. It prepared me for reading for others on a much higher level. Even though I don’t think I’ll ever read for others professionally, I am confident I can read at a charitable event coming up this summer. I’ve done more readings while taking this course and they’ve greatly improved!

Greg Clark

Without your courses, your teaching & guidance, I would not be where I am today. I never dreamed I would be reading tarot as a business.

You helped me fall in love even deeper with tarot than I already was! And the love affair continues ♥

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a beginners course?

This course is open to all levels of Tarot skill! However, I have created this course with Intermediate Tarot students in mind, who are already familiar with the basics.

But I don’t think a Tarot beginner will have too much difficulty with the course as long as they have a good Tarot book on hand to look up meanings, etc.

When does this course start?

The course officially begins on May 3rd – this is when you’ll get the pre-recorded lessons for week one. Each week, new lessons are released. Our first live Q&A is on May 8th.

What if I can’t make the live Q&A sessions?

All Q&A sessions will be recorded and available for download, so you won’t miss a thing. You can also email me your questions ahead of time if you’d like me to answer them during the live Q&A.

How long will I have access to the course once it’s over?

You have lifetime access and all course materials are downloadable. This means there is no rush to watch all the videos – you can revisit this course again and again.

I don’t know how to read Tarot – will this course teach me?

No. The basics of Tarot (like Tarot card meanings) won’t be taught. My course assumes that you’re already somewhat familiar with Tarot and would now like to build on your existing skills.

Will I get 1-on-1 attention during this course?

Yes! Connecting with and helping my students is my top priority. There will be four live Q&A sessions over Zoom where you can chat with me live or email me your questions ahead of time. You can also ask questions in the private Facebook group for this course and I’m always available via email.

Do I have to be on Facebook to do this course?

No. All course materials are located on a private, password protected page on my site and the live Q&A’s happen over Zoom. The private Facebook group is an optional part of the course, for those who enjoy more interaction and class discussion.

What are the dates of the live Q&A’s and practice sessions?

1hr Q&A Sessions are on Thursdays:May 8 @ 12pm PDTMay 15 @ 12pm PDTMay 22 @ 12pm PDTMay 29 @ 12pm PDT*All Q&A’s are recorded

Live practice sessions (1.5 hrs):May 12 @ 5pm PDTMay 18 @ 10am PDTMay 31 @ 10am PDT*Practice sessions are NOT recorded

The Best Way to Learn the Tarot Card Meanings

The following post and video is inspired by Andy Matzner’s book Tarot for Transformation.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret – a juicy Tarot secret that will help you truly understand your cards and make your readings POP!

But first, some boring backstory….

I first discovered Tarot when I was young and impatient and I immediately set about trying to learn and memorize all 78 Tarot cards.

A typical Tarot beginner move!

Not to brag or anything, but I kind of succeeded. Within a fairly short amount of time, I had a surface level grasp of what most Tarot cards represented. But I was a shitty reader and I still didn’t understand what Tarot was really all about.

Fast forward to now. I’m slowly working through Tarot for Transformation: Using the Major Arcana to Discover Your Best Self and Create a Life Worth Living by Andy Matzner.

It’s a deliciously slow process, like eating a box of chocolate caramels while stoned.

This slow process, which I’ll describe in a hot minute, allows me to stay with a card way longer than I normally would – to really climb inside it and roll around in it. And at the same time, to climb deep inside myself (which sounds a bit creepy, now that I think about it).

The more I get to know each card, the more I realize that the cards are simply there to help me get to know myself. Mind blown!

So what exactly IS this juicy Tarot secret I speak of? And how do you apply it to your readings?

The secret is this: each Tarot card is alive within you – it’s like a map of your soul. Once you understand how the themes of each card play out within you, you begin to develop a personal relationship with the Tarot. And once you come to know the Tarot intimately (seeing your self in the cards and the cards in you), the cards will open up to you and reveal their mysteries.

I’m going to take you on a little journey – we’re going to dive into The High Priestess together. Or rather, we’re going to dive into ourselves to find our inner High Priestess! Woo hoo!

Exploring the Subconscious

mystic meg tarot
Mystic Meg Tarot

In Tarot for Transformation, Andy Matzner writes that The High Priestess is associated with water, intuition, repeating cycles of change, the moon, wisdom, the subconscious and many other things. Basically, all the cool stuff.

He asks: “how can we best move between the conscious and subconscious parts of ourselves?”

So let’s start there. How indeed?

I’ll let you go first. Have you found any methods or activities that help you tap into the partially hidden realms of your mind? Take a moment to ponder.

A few years ago I was hypnotized and while I was under hypnosis, the hypnotherapist asked my higher self to come forward and answer a list of questions that I’d prepared in advance. Holy moly! My higher self said all kinds of wild stuff! The session was recorded and when I listened back to it I was blown away by the wisdom, advice and insights that I got. Who knew?!

Dream Journalling, lucid dreaming, meditative journeying and various automatic writing exercises have also helped me tap into my subconscious and unearth my inner wisdom.

Often, when The High Priestess shows up in a reading, she’s telling you to go deeper. Don’t just be content to fuddle about with surface level stuff. Go deep. The answers are within you.

Honouring Your Intuition

In Tarot for Transformation, many different methods of tapping into your intuition are suggested, along with a list of journal questions like how do you know when your intuition is communicating with you? and Describe a time when listening to your intuition changed your life.

Everyday Witch Tarot by Deborah Blake

So let’s go there. What is your relationship to your intuition like? Are you in the habit of ignoring it? Have you been making attempts to honour it or even explore it in a feet first, New Age Adventurer kind of way?

For years I tuned out my intuitive feelings like you would a pesky younger sibling. My intuition felt like an inconvenient distraction from logic, reason and the goals of the ego.

But as I got older and more desperate to find real meaning in my life, I began to re-discover my intuition. And look at me now! Blogging away about intuition like I know what I’m talking about! 😉

The High Priestess reminds us to acknowledge our intuition because the way we treat our intuition mirrors the kind of relationship we have with our soul (our deeper, expanded self). Honouring your intuition is a great way to show yourself some love and respect.

Cycles & Rhythms

Now let’s shift gears a bit and talk about the moon, cycles and natural rhythms, which are all in the realm of The High Priestess.

Just as we aren’t really encouraged (in our current society) to honour our intuition, we are actively discouraged in following our natural rhythms and cycles. Tampon ads are the perfect example of this.

Google image search “tampon ad” (go ahead, I’ll wait for you) and you’ll see an array of women playing tennis, doing gymnastics, climbing walls, doing back flips and playing soccer alongside phrases like “my period doesn’t slow me down!” and my personal favourite “Serena SHUTS OUT mother nature’s monthly gift” (a Tampax Pearl ad featuring Serena Williams). Cold and flu medication ads pull the same shit.

But is it wise to push your body when you’re on your period? Or trying to get over a cold? The High Priestess says NO! Work with your cycles, not against them. There will be times of high energy and times of low energy. There is a time to shine and take action and and a time to rest, recharge and go inward.

The Anna K Tarot

In Tarot for Transformation, there are a bunch of great journalling questions about this, like “how familiar are you with your own natural rhythms?” and “when do you typically feel most drained during the day? Most energized?”

A question I want to add is how can you better honour your natural energy cycles?

Take a moment now to ponder this. Journal about it if you want.

I’ve found it much, much easier to honour my energy cycles since I became self employed and started working from home. From ages 4 – 30ish, I was always on someone else’s schedule and feeling like I had to meet the energy demands that others placed on me. Since I became fully self employed, I’ve been in control of my own schedule and the type of work that I do, allowing me to work with my energy and cycles.

Of course there are plenty of ways to honour your cycles without quitting your day job! A really neat book on how to sync your diet and exercise to your menstrual cycle is Womancode by Alisa Vitti.

Learn about the moon phases and experiment with syncing up your activities so they correspond to the moon’s energy. For example, focus on manifestation and taking action on goals when the moon is waxing and releasing things when the moon is waning.

Is there a particular time of day when you’re most energetic? Or most creative? Plan your activities accordingly. It sounds ridiculously simple but we often overlook this sort of thing.

So now you know!

Now you know the secret to really, truly understanding your Tarot cards. Dive deep, take your time and don’t just explore each Tarot card and it’s symbols, but use your cards to explore your SELF. Use your cards to ask yourself questions and don’t be afraid to get nosy and personal (it’s just you, after all!)

If you liked this approach to exploring Tarot…

Make sure you check out Tarot for Transformation by Andy Matzner. It’s a big book with plenty of great info on each Major Arcana card, along with journalling questions, exercises and tips for diving deep. Your relationship to your cards (and your self) will never be the same!

Sexy Tarot: The Fool

With a little help from my evil twin Veronica, this blog series aims to answer the two burning questions that are probably on every Tarot enthusiasts mind:
1) If this Tarot card were a person, what would they be like in bed?
2) What advice does this card have for you about your sex life?

The Fool

Rider Waite Tarot, Published by US Games Systems, Inc.

The Fool is both moronic and deliciously refreshing! He approaches life (and sex) with an adventurous fearlessness which kind of makes him an idiot – but in a hot way.

What would The Fool be like in bed? Let me put it this way…

Have you ever had sex with someone who always does the exact same thing, in the exact same way, over and over again, never deviating from the monotonous routine? Someone who balks at the suggestion of trying something new?

The Fool is the exact opposite of that!

The Fool embraces sexual adventures and isn’t scared of being vulnerable or looking stupid. In other words, he doesn’t live in fear of losing his boner or feel like a twit when he’s role playing in a cheesy pirate costume. Life is too short to be sexually self conscious!

Despite past rejections and mishaps, The Fool remains open, flexible and optimistic, both emotionally and sexually. This is a dude who is not afraid of taking big risks in the boudoir, whether he’s confessing his most bizarre kink or holding eye contact for longer than two seconds.

And did I mention he’s up for anything? He’s like an ardent (and sometimes naive) tourist in Sexytown, yearning to see all the sights and become fluent in the language of lust. Basically, he’s someone you’re gonna wanna bang.

Guess what? The Fool has some valuable advice for you:

He says stop being so uptight in bed – let your hair down and let go of inhibitions. Ignore your fear of having your partner laugh at your weird sex fantasies. So what?!!

Be willing to take some erotic risks. Yes, sometimes you end up with a scraped knee, a broken heart and/or genital herpes. That’s life. Get over it.

Like a horny Columbus on the high seas of eroticism, be willing to explore, embark on sexy adventures and discover new things about yourself. You’ll be glad you did.

Tune in next week when I reveal the oozing charisma of The Magician!

Quiz: Which Tarot Deck Should You Buy?

Disclaimer: some of the links below are my Amazon affiliate links, which means if you purchase a deck I recommend through that link, I get a commission.

Have you ever stared at the massive array of Tarot decks available online and thought “fuck. Which one do I get?”

There are thousands of Tarot decks out there and it feels like new ones are popping up every second. While this massive amount of choice is exciting, it’s also incredibly confusing and overwhelming.

Which Tarot deck is for you? Which one should you buy?

There needs to be a Tinder app just for Tarot decks! But since there isn’t one, I bring you the next best thing….my signature Daily Tarot Girl quiz that matches your personality with an appropriate Tarot deck.

You’re welcome! Now take the quiz…

1. You’re sick with the flu and forced to stay at home all week. You use this time by…

A) Powering through a box of salted caramels while watching all five Twilight movies back to back – without shame.

B) Languishing in bed and telling friends and family that you “might not make it”. Oh, and also watching lots of grisly true crime shows.

C) Finally testing out all the herbal medicines that you spent all Summer making.

D) Sitting on the couch, glued to your laptop or smartphone, catching up on email.

2. Which vacation appeals to you the most?

A) A sailboating trip where you get to skinny dip with dolphins and have giggly, day-drunk picnics on deserted islands.

B) A tour of haunted hot-spots in London, with plenty of museum pit stops.

C) Staying in a remote eco-village where you sleep in a spherical treehouse with a composting toilet. Orgyatic dance parties happen every evening in the main lodge!

D) An all-inclusive in Mexico or a Caribbean cruise. Fuck history and all that dumb shit, you just wanna go someplace sunny where nothings expected of you.

3. In the kitchen, you love to make…

A) Glorious cherry pies, lemon cupcakes with copious buttercream frosting and magnificent chocolate layer cakes!

B) Takeout. You’ve spent most of your life developing your intellect, but your cooking skills? Not so much!

C) Something vegan, fermented and KALE.

D) You rarely have time to dick around in the kitchen but when you do it’s tuna casserole, chicken noodle soup and lasagna – you know, comfort food!

4. Your favorite thing about the internet is…

A) Kitten videos! Grumpy Cat memes! Green juice recipes! Etsy! Pinterest! OMG soooo much!

B) Snark blogs. Twitter fights (observing them, not participating). And writing scathing reviews on Amazon.

C) How you can share information about gardening and stuff and learn really cool things like how to make kombucha and how to cure yeast infections with garlic yogurt.

D) Google maps

5. Most of your sex fantasies take place…

A) In a mythical land of your own imagination where everyone lives like primitive hunter gatherers except with electricity and showers. Everything’s organic and everyone’s super hot and buff.

B) In a library

C) Outside in nature! Also, see option A above.

D) In bed

6. Your #1 pet peeve is…

A) People that need scientific proof to believe in something. God those people suck!

B) Trailers for “feel-good” movies like fluffy romantic comedies or movies with kids in them. Yuck!

I’m 100% vegan. Eggs benny doesn’t count.

C) Fair weather vegans

D) Facebook. It’s a frivolous time suck of epic proportions – a voyeuristic black hole of boring baby photos, pointless opinions and self congratulatory crapolla.

7. Your favorite reading material consists of…

A) Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones and some pretty weird mermaid smut that you secretly downloaded to your Kindle.

B) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The DaVinci Code and anything by Agatha Christie. Murder mysteries, true crime and Victorian ghost stories are right up your alley.

C) How-to books on wildcrafting, living off the land and anarchistic utopian manifestos get you all fired up!

D) The manual that came with your new Bissell Stick Vacuum.

8. Your perfect day would be spent…

A) Cuddling kittens and puppies and eating strawberry waffles while Daniel Craig (circa 2008) massages your feet.

B) Perusing antique bookstores, sipping Turkish coffee and running into your favorite old University prof who just so happens to remember you (and your above average intellect) after all these years.

C) Marching passionately in a political protest, meeting a sexy fellow protestor and heading back to your caravan (or tiny-house) for a “sensual experience” involving organic hemp oil, Nag Champa incense and that overpriced yoga bolster you never use…until now.

D) Getting your taxes done early, not hitting any red lights on your way to work and coming home to discover the new IKEA catalogue waiting for you in your mailbox!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now tally up your score!

Mostly A’s – Mystical Daydreamer

You’re a happy soul who loves to daydream and roll around in your imagination. Some say you’re spacey but it’s because you’re too busy traversing other worlds to be fully present in this bland one. And you need a Tarot deck that reflects that!

Decks with fairies, mermaids and dragons will get your heart pounding while new agey decks with sun rays, chakras and angel wings might strike a chord, too. You  prefer uplifting decks over dark, broody ones and you’re magically drawn to animal decks.

Here are some suggestions:

Mostly B’s – Intellectual Cranky Pants

You’re overly brainy, pessimistic and moody and you love to take a stroll on the dark side. You never turn down a challenge! You don’t want “easy” and you don’t want “fluff” – you want a deck that’s confusing (to idiots), darkly intriguing and something you can really sink your teeth into.

Mostly C’s – Rebel Hippy

You’re a rebel, an eccentric, a brave trail blazer who lives outside the system and grows her own kale. You love getting out for long nature hikes (or so you say), doing full moon rituals and protesting Monsanto. You’re interested in decks that emphasize nature, animals, feminine power and Wicca or Druidry.

Mostly D’s – No-nonsense Nelly

You’re a practical, no-nonsense individual and you don’t have time for all the bullshit that seems to inundate everyone these days. You know what you want and where you’re going. No one’s ever accused you of being “too exciting” but who cares? You need a deck that brings you the goods straight up without any fip-fop fappery.

4 Secrets to Being a Fabulous Tarot Reader (Part 2)

In last weeks post, we covered intuition and connecting with your Tarot deck as ways to enhance the quality of your Tarot readings.

So now it’s time to dive a little deeper and tackle context and connecting the cards in a reading!

Secret #3: Understand that each Tarot Card has many facets and it’s meaning and message will change with it’s environment (context).

A fabulous Tarot reader knows that the cards – like people – are multidimensional.

This throws a lot of readers off because let’s face it, most of us would prefer the Tarot cards had specific, clear definitions so we could know exactly what they meant.

The fact that the Tarot card meanings are actually quite fluid can be frustrating – kind of like dating a flaky emo-guy who constantly changes his mind about how he feels about you.

Page of Cups from the Anna K Tarot – he’s not just a pretty face!

A Tarot card’s meaning is effected by the surrounding cards, the question/issue being asked about, the position in the spread and of course the readers intuition.

But don’t think about all that! – it will only confuse you and twist your brain into a frustrated Tarot mindfuck. So here’s what you do…

Instead of seeing the Tarot card meanings as things that need to be defined and memorized, see your cards as beings.

It’s a tad creepy, but stay with me…

Get a feel for each card’s essence, vibe and energy – this isn’t the same as it’s meaning.

It’s like when you meet someone new at a party: you learn their occupation (plumber) and relationship status (married five years!) which actually tells you very little about who they are. But you also get a sense of their energy/vibe, based on how you feel when you’re in their presence, which gives you more helpful information about what kind of a person they are.

When you get a sense of a Tarot card’s essence and see it as a multi-faceted being, you will have an easier time deciphering it’s message when it shows up in a variety of readings and spread positions.

Okay, I want you to look through your Tarot deck and pick out The Sun.

Dame Darcy Tarot

Got it? Now look at it. Feel into it. Get a sense of it’s energy, it’s vibe, what it’s all about.

Now, I want you to ask “what is the next step for me?” and look at The Sun. What is it telling you?

Ask “What do I need to do to improve my overall vitality and energy?”….now what does it say?

Ask “What do I need to let go of?” and see what it tells you.

Ask “how can I improve my relationships?” and see what it says.

How did it go? Did you get wildly different answers for each question? Did you get some new ideas and insights?

Secret #4: See the Connections between Tarot Cards in a Spread

One of the biggest gripes I hear from my audience is that they have no problem reading a Tarot card on its own, but when it comes to doing a big Tarot spread, they find it hard to link the cards together to weave a “big picture” and tell a story.

Telling a story with the cards is an art form. But it’s a skill that can be learned!

When you make connections between the cards in a reading, it can feel like you are translating a thrilling letter or solving a mystery message that’s just for you.

Think of a Tarot reading (or Tarot spread) as being like a letter. Each Tarot card is like a sentence in that letter. Each sentence means something, but all the sentences together give you a deeper, more meaningful message.

Look at the 3 cards below and see each card as being a sentence in a letter…

Crystal Visions Tarot

What does this letter say to you? Don’t think too hard about this, just go with it – make something up!

I read these 3 cards as saying you are in creative mode right now (The Empress) but you need to make sure you stay focused and intentional about what you intend to create (The Magician) so that you create something that is emotionally fulfilling and the start of something special (Ace of Cups).

Of course, there are probably a million different ways to read these cards, that is just one possibility!

The Dark Side…of those “Good” Tarot Cards

Everyone has a dark side. Everything has a dark side.

And Tarot cards are no exception!

Each and every Tarot card has both a light and dark aspect and today I want to focus on the BAD side of those sunny, bright, cheery Tarot cards.

This is a helpful exercise to do when you get a positive card in a negative position in a Tarot spread. Like when you ask “what do I need to let go of?” and you get The Sun or the Ace of Cups.

So let’s get crackin’!

All Tarot cards shown in the above video are from the Dame Darcy Mermaid Tarot

The Sun

Dame Darcy Mermaid Tarot

This is the quintessential “positive” Tarot card and it’s hard to find anything negative about it.

But let me try…

Do you remember back in the mid-2000’s when The Secret came out and everyone was going on and on about positive thinking? To the point where it got really annoying?

Have you ever felt pressured to be more positive?

Or to be extra-super-duper positive even when things were unacceptably horrible?

Like working for a company that treats its staff inhumanely but then demands that you show “team spirit” and enthusiasm and smile all the time. That shit is soul destroying.

This whole discussion makes me think of a great book I read a couple years ago – Bright Sided : How Positive Thinking is Undermining America by Barbara Ehrenreich.

Two of Cups

hanson roberts two of cups
Hanson Roberts Tarot

Two people, clinking glasses and putting their heads together in a glow of mutual appreciation.

What could go wrong? Plenty!

Meeting a like minded individual who shares your values and vision can be intoxicating. But once the thrill fades and you realize that you must also compromisewhat used to be a strong connection might start to feel like a prison sentence.

Sure you might agree on eating vegan, going to yoga retreats and watching George Carlin stand up routines, but then you discover they can’t load a fucking dishwasher properly and love to eat Twizzlers and go to baseball games…god what were you thinking?

Now it’s your turn!

I’ve picked a really uplifting and happy card for you to tear into…the Three of Cups!

I wish there was a secret formula for figuring out the “dark side” of a cheery card, but there isn’t. So you just have to contemplate it and get creative…

Anna K Tarot

Tell me, in the comments below…what do you think this card’s dark traits are? What is the downside of all this celebration and camaraderie?

I can’t wait to hear your pessimism!!!!

My Top 10 Tarot Decks

Just for fun, I have rounded up my top ten Tarot decks! Out of all the decks in my Tarot deck collection (and there are many), these are the decks I go back to again and again.

As an adventurous and promiscuous Tarot lover, I may scamper off with other decks from time to time just for the thrill, but I always return to these ones because I know I’m always guaranteed a satisfying, soul quenching reading.

These decks are in no particular order. I love #1 just as much as #10!

1. Dame Darcy’s Mermaid Tarot

For many years I have been waiting to find THE perfect Tarot deck. A deck that just clicks with me and makes me feel at home. For me, this is that deck.

dame darcy tarot

There is so much I love about this deck – the nautical theme, the mermaids, the hand written card names, barely-there borders, matte finish, blah, blah, blah….but the real magic is in the energy of these cards.

This is a one of a kind, special deck – not just visually, but energetically. I feel like I am truly tapping into my gypsy, tarot reading self when I read with these cards.

2. Osho Zen Tarot

When I first saw the Osho Zen Tarot deck I didn’t like it at all. I don’t know why, but it seemed almost too simple. Then a few years later, I saw it again and absolutely had to have it!

Since then I have spent hours working with these cards. I find them to be excellent at getting to the real meat of a situation – the deep, underlying issues that need to be recognized.

If your into things like Eckhart Tolle, Eastern spirituality and meditation, then you will really enjoy working with this deck. It’s not “new-agey” or anything like that, but if your interested in understanding the inner workings of your self, ego and mind, then this deck will help you along the way.

I think that both men and women will equally enjoy this deck – many Tarot decks are a bit girly and fluffy, but not the Osho Zen.

3. Hezicos Tarot

There is so much I could say about the Hezicos Tarot! Whimsical, fun and insightful, I love using this deck for self readings. The images and symbols on the cards really pull me in and I find myself going on a mini-journey into my self each time I read with this deck.

4. Universal Waite Tarot Deck

Here is a good old, classic Tarot deck! I always recommend this deck as the deck to learn on, because if you learn with this deck, you will be able to easily read with most other decks that are based on the Rider-Waite structure and symbolism.

To be perfectly honest, this deck isn’t my favorite deck to read with, but it is one of my favorite decks to meditate with and to study.

5. Crystal Visions Tarot

This deck has been a long-standing fave of mine. I ended up trimming my deck to get rid of the annoying white borders, so the cards in this photo look a bit different from when I first got them.

This is a gentle and mystical deck with a girly vibe. I like using it for professional readings because there are no scary looking cards and everyone seems to love this deck.

 6. Morgan-Greer Tarot

Now here’s a succulent, colourful deck that’s just bursting with 1970’s sexiness!  Handlebar mustaches and fertile flowers bloom unfettered by mojo-killing borders. This is one of the few decks out there that is borderless – and thank God for that!

I accidentally bough the Spanish version of this deck – which is actually a good way to learn a few Spanish words – but you might not want to do that if your a total beginner who doesn’t speak Spanish!

7. Hanson-Roberts Tarot

This is the deck I usually take with me when I travel and there are 3 reasons why I love it…

hanson roberts tarot

1. This deck closely follows the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, so it’s easy for beginners

2. Cards are quite small –  like a mini deck – and can easily be carried in your purse or pocket. This makes them easy to handle and less intimidating than a full size deck.

3. Images are fairytale-ish and even a bit childish, which gives the deck a gentle feel to it.

8. Shadowscapes Tarot

This deck is super atmospheric and gazing at these cards can transport you to another world – especially if you’re the spacey-outey type like me!

I love using this deck for both professional and self readings. My only gripe is that the cards are very detailed and so I find myself squinting a bit. But nobody’s perfect!

9. Anna K Tarot

This is one of my most “down to earth” decks – when I read with this deck, it just makes sense, especially as it pertains to my everyday life.

The cards closely follow the Rider-Waite-Smith imagery, so this is a great deck for beginners to learn Tarot with.

10. Druidcraft Tarot

This deck has major personality! The people on these cards can sometimes seem a bit fugly, but they’re always easy to relate to.

What I love about this deck:

1. Big cards! Yes, it makes it impossible to shuffle but the cards act as windows into a different realm. A realm I want to endlessly scamper about in.

2. Druidy vibe and magical feel – you really feel like your using a special deck of cards when you do a reading with the Druidcraft.

3. The companion book – if you can, it’s worth it to get the book and deck set. I usually ignore most companion books, but this one has a lot of good info and fun spreads and stuff. You will want the book especially if you’re interested in druidry or earth based spirituality.
